Who we are

brightsite is a trading name of ABAB Group Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 17132385. We are the "data controller" responsible for your personal information.

What information we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and run our business:

• Information you give us. When you complete our contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, business name (if you provide it), and anything you write in your message.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which helps keep the site secure and working properly.
• Cookies. We use a very small number of essential cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How we use your information, and our legal basis

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote: on the basis of our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• To provide our services if you go on to engage us, on the basis of performing our contract with you.
• To keep the website secure and running: on the basis of our legitimate interests in protecting our site and its visitors.
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations: on the basis of complying with the law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, ever. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the business, and only as far as needed:

• Netlify, which hosts our website and processes contact-form submissions on our behalf.
• Our domain and email providers, who handle our email and web addresses.
• Professional advisers such as our accountant, where necessary.
• Authorities or regulators, if we are legally required to do so.

Information sent outside the UK

Some of our providers (including Netlify) may store or process data on servers outside the UK, such as in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision) so your information stays protected.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards (normally up to 24 months), then delete them. If you become a client, we keep your records for as long as we work together and for any period we're legally required to afterwards (for example, six years for tax and accounting).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct anything that's wrong;
• ask us to delete your information, or to restrict or object to how we use it;
• ask us to transfer your information to another provider; and
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we relied on consent.

To exercise any of these, just email hello@brightsite.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including serving the whole site over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, but we work to keep the risk low.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
